When it comes to overcoming your obstacles as an artist you first need to have a clear vision of what you want to create. Also know that there are no rules when it comes to creating any type of art. Even if you don’t know exactly how you’re going to accomplish it. Mine was a wire tree. I could see the finished tree in my head but I had let my fears stop me from starting the project. But thanks to another YouTuber and his tutorial, I felt it was easy enough to make.
Now I will be the first to admit that I tend to bite off more than I can chew.  For one thing I wanted this tree to be about 3 feet tall so it could sit outside next to my butterfly garden.  Secondly, I was using 20 gauge wire which is pretty heavy. Once I cut all the wires I soon found there was one main obstacle. Twisting all of wires into the trunk of the tree. I stared at the bundle of wires for days and decided to just walk away.
As an artist, whenever I become overwhelmed or lost in what direction to go in, I stop. I need to step back and look at things from a different angle. Which for me took over a year of this project laying dormant in my back yard.
Then one sunny day as I passed buy my bundle of wires a thought occurred to me. I needed to started from the bottom and twist the root sections first. Which I did and instantly the tree started to take shape. I could then wrap the roots around the rock foundation. It was here that my handyman of a husband helped me twist the top of the tree using a giant clamp. And It worked!
I was then able to move on to all of the creative stuff. Like spray painting the trunk and creating all of the hanging bead strands.
So just remember, it’s o.k. to get stuck. To step back from whatever you are working on and take a mental break. To look at things from another angle or perspective.
