The definition of obsession is the domination of one’s thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc. For me that would be anything involving Pinterest. I could spend hours on it all day long drooling at all of the Pinspirations.
My biggest Pinterest obsession comes from my “Just Me” board that is a compilation of clothing and outfits that I want to remake for myself. So when Covid happened and the world shut down I decided challenge myself. To make this become a reality and figure out how to remake many of my favorite things.
The process began with taking screenshots so I could print them out and collect them in a binder. All 145 of them. As I recreated them I would film the process and share it to my YouTube channel. Unfortunately the best ideas can easily fall flat when you don’t have a solid plan of action. I may have had visions of grandeur to sew all of these inspiring looks but I overlooked several important factors in accomplishing my Pinterest obsession goal.
One was the crazy idea of making sewing tutorial videos to share on YouTube. Not only did I have the job of creating the looks but having to do all the filming and editing as well. This alone was why it took me almost a year to complete the first look.
Another overlooked factor is that I may be an expert seamstress when it comes to alterations, but that is very different when creating garments from scratch. I am good at modifying existing patterns but am in no way a pattern maker. I am completely self taught with the basics of sewing coming from my mother and do understand how to use patterns. I’ve just never made them from scratch.
Be that as it may I am very happy with the way the first look turned out. To watch the whole process of this creation please click on the link below.
